It was a journey south for me for Kendra & Martins wedding, with perfect sunshine landing on the grounds of Sherburn in Elmet Parish Church. As I arrived at Kendra’s home, I found friends and family working and rushing around to make sure Kendra was ready for her day ahead. I could feel the excitement from everyone there and knew it was going to be an amazing day. 

As Kendra walked downstairs and out in to the open, I could see the overwhelming look on her face as she realised that this was her big day. Trying to hold back her tears, Kendra made her way across and up the long path to the Parish Church where she couldn’t hold back anymore, shedding tears of joy in the company of her family. With everyone so excited, they supported Kendra along with her Father bringing them inside the church and down the aisle, with a nervous but composed Martin waiting at the end. 

After the wedding ceremony we all made our way to the York Maze, a perfect outdoor and indoor venue for the newly weds and their guests. One of the main attractions of the day was the bouncy castle style dome out in the open. There’s no other way to explain than to see the photo below! Our videographer, Dominic, handed his prized possessions over to Martin where he filmed himself bouncing up and down on the inflatable dome before Kendra joined in with the fun-filled antics. Everyone was screaming with laughter in what must have been the most fun and unique moments of any wedding so far. 

Shortly afterwards, everyone was gifted the best speeches I’ve seen in a long time. Everyone filled the room with their original stories that were both heartwarming and outstandingly hilarious, including a surprise appearance of the ‘vuvuzela’ which was used by one of the best men sporting a Harry Hill style comedy act. 

As the night drew near to a close, guests were ushered in to the dancing room where Martin got to show off his newly learnt dance moves. Both Martin & Kendra strutted their demonstrating how it should be done. Kendra found AND kept her stride, remaining on the dance floor allowing for the most amazing lighting to fall on her dress, creating perfect dynamic shots that brought out every detail in the final photographs.

I was very lucky to be part of their day, especially to have the privilege to experience the fun and games at York Maze. Thank you to Kendra and Martin for allowing me to be with you on your big day, I wish you all the very best for the future.

Daniel and Emma's Wedding- Doxford Hall

Doxford Hall Wedding

It was a journey north for me this weekend into Northumberland for the wedding of Daniel and Emma. They chose to get married in the stunning Doxford Hall in Northumberland. Doxford Hall is a very secluded country manor wedding venue with it’s own manicured gardens, making it a perfect wedding venue.

It was a very relaxed day and my day started with the girls getting ready then some nice relaxed shots of the boys in the gardens. As Emma came down the stairs to meet Daniel he said he would not shed a tear, I could see his emotions get the better of him as Emma looked amazing in her dress. After the wedding ceremony we went out into the gardens for champagne and canapes and some fun family shots. Daniel and Emma were great fun and that spirit shows in the photographs.

I was very lucky to be part of their wedding at Doxford Hall. This has been two recent weekends that I have worked at a Northumberland wedding venue, it is a great place and I look forward to returning very soon!

Nicola and Alan's Wedding- Brinkburn Priory

Northumbria Wedding Photography- Brinkburn Priory

Brinkburn Abbey is one of Northumberland's finest wedding venues. It is a stunning backdrop for some amazing wedding photography and was the choice of venue for Nicola and Alan. The abbey is nestled in its own grounds alongside the river and has a large renovated house which has lovingly been restored and is the venue for Nicola and Alan's civil ceremony. 

They were joined by friends and family from all over the UK who wanted to be part of the happy couples big day. Nicola had said to me that colour was an important part of her day and the guests wore some lovely summery colourful outfits and hats, and summer was there for them. After the rather cool start to the wedding season this day was positively tropical, blue skies warm temperatures made for a fantastic day.

Nicola was originally from Whitley Bay and getting some photos of her in her wedding dress on the beach was an important aspect of the day for her. With the military timing that I could only expect from Nicola she was in her dress on time and it was a quick hop off to the beach to get the shot. Nicola wore a stunning Jenny Packham dress which flowed beautifully in the sea breeze.
I joined some of the guests at the local Anglers Arms who were enjoying a glass of champagne in the sun. When I joined the boys at the abbey they were  looking very dapper in their suits, I think for Alan the nerves were just starting to get the better of him!

After an emotional ceremony in the abbey and some amazing songs by the choir the garden party started. Emma and her team at Brinkburn Priory kept the champagne flutes full all afternoon and everyone had an amazing time chatting and enjoying the day. The wedding breakfast and evening reception rolled into one inside the Papakata tent that was on the lawn. The whole day was fantastic and I am so pleased to be part of their day.
